Situation Cards

How to use Situation Cards in Oz Chat — how to get them, how they affect conversations, and ideas for dates, seasonal events, and everyday chats.

Situation Cards

Situation Cards set the stage and circumstances for your conversations with a character. Even with the same character, switching cards changes the mood, the topics, and the distance between you.

When chats start to feel repetitive, or when you want to enjoy a particular event, we recommend taking another look at your Situation Card first.

What Situation Cards change

  • The setting of the conversation
  • The character's outfit and illustration
  • Conversation starters
  • The feel of the season or event
  • The mood — date, everyday life, school, work, and more

Cards act as "the foundation that tells the AI what's going on." The more closely your messages match the card, the more natural the replies tend to be.

1. Start with a line that matches the card

After choosing a card, it feels natural to open with a line that fits the situation.

(Meeting up at the amusement park entrance.)
Which ride do you want to start with today?
(On the way home on a rainy day. I hold out my umbrella.)
Want to walk part of the way home together?

2. Switch cards as the conversation progresses

Switching cards as the conversation moves along — meeting up for a date, traveling, eating, heading home — turns your chat into something with a real story.

3. Discover new sides of a character

Choosing an unusual situation can bring out unexpected reactions from a character. Especially for your favorites, try out everyday, event, and special-outfit cards.
