Chat the Way You Want

Tips for natural conversations with AI characters in Oz Chat, plus how to use parentheses, Memory, Situation Cards, and voice playback.

Chat

Chat is the heart of Oz Chat. Send characters any message you like and enjoy everyday conversation, romance simulation, roleplay, advice, and casual small talk.

The key to consistent conversations is to briefly share a situation that makes it easy for the character to respond. Rather than giving the AI detailed orders, describe the place, your relationship, your feelings, and the reaction you'd like next in natural sentences — the conversation will flow much more easily.

Chat basics

  • Chat history is kept separately for each character.
  • Changing the Situation Card keeps your conversation with that character intact.
  • In the chat list, the characters you've talked to most recently appear at the top.
  • You can delete chat history one message at a time.
  • Sending a regular message uses MP. Under certain conditions, such as with the Lite model, some chats are free.

Writing your first message

Your first message can be short. That said, adding a little situation or emotion makes it much easier for the character to reply than having no context at all.

GoalExample
Start small talkI'm a little tired today. Could you keep me company for a bit?
Start like a dateI want to start with us meeting up in front of the station after school.
Ask for adviceI haven't had any motivation lately. Can you cheer me up?
See an in-character reactionHow would you react if I suddenly complimented you?

Use parentheses to describe the situation

In Oz Chat, parentheses make it easy to describe the situation or your actions.

(An empty classroom after school. It's raining outside the window.)
Think we can walk home together today?
(Blushing a little, I sit down next to you.)
Tell me more about what you were saying earlier.

Keep parenthetical notes short — about one or two sentences per message tends to give the most consistent results.

Techniques for naturally guiding replies

1. Set the place and time

Once the stage is set — "a classroom," "a café," "the walk home," "a park at night" — the character's reactions become more specific. Choosing topics that match your Situation Card makes things feel even more natural.

2. Include something they can respond to

Instead of only explaining things one-sidedly, ending with a question or an action keeps the conversation going.

We promised to go see a movie today, right? What kind of movie do you want to see?

3. Save important details in Memory

If you find yourself writing names, nicknames, relationships, or past promises every time, use Memory. Saving them in Memory helps keep the premise of the conversation consistent.

4. Match the Situation Card to the conversation

If the setting of your conversation and the content of the card are far apart, replies can become vague. We recommend choosing a card that fits where the conversation is headed — a date card when you want a date, a seasonal event card when you want to talk about the season, and so on.

Voice playback

  • Tap the speaker icon to the right of a message to play the voice of characters with voice support.
  • Turn on "Autoplay" in chat settings to have voices play automatically after a message appears.
  • Long messages may be split across multiple speech bubbles.
  • If the text in a bubble is too long, voice playback may fail or sound unnatural.

For messages you want to hear in voice, splitting them into shorter sentences gives more reliable results.

Message actions

  • The buttons below a message let you "Like," "Dislike," "Report," or "Copy" it.
  • The AI does not learn directly on the spot from message ratings or reports.
  • Copying saves the entire message to your clipboard.
  • If you get an inappropriate reply or something that seems like a bug, please share it via Report or Contact Us.
